John Harris (Royalist) : ウィキペディア英語版 | John Harris (Royalist) John Harris (1596–1648) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1628 and 1644. He supported the Royalist side in the English Civil War. Harris was the son of John Harris of Lanrest in Cornwall, and of Radford by Plymstock in Devon, and his wife Joan Harte daughter of Robert Harte of Climston in Stoke Climsland, Cornwall.〔(Visitation of Devon1620 )〕 In 1628, Harris was elected Member of Parliament for Liskeard and sat until 1629 when King Charles decided to rule without parliament for eleven years. In April 1640 Harris was re-elected MP for Liskeard in the Short Parliament. He was re-elected for Liskeard in the Long Parliament in November 1640 until he was disabled from sitting in January 1644 for supporting the King. Harris married Elizabeth Johnson of Bonham in Wiltshire. She died in childbirth in 1631, and her surviving. son John was MP for Liskeard after the Restoration.〔(Basil Duke Henning ''The House of Commons, 1660-1690'' )〕 His brother Robert was major General of the King's infantry in Plymouth. ==References==
